Personally I’d like to see Laura B win it. Her album was brilliant and I’d be totally happy to have her ‘rep’ Canada. I like the Handsome Furs, but I think they are in danger of getting too much hype. There were people who waited outside the Horseshoe for two hours last night to see them and after I didn’t get the sense that they really felt like they’d gotten the show they were hoping for. Before the show there were people talking like they were about to see something that would change their lives forever and alter their perception of music. If expectations get too high you can’t help disappointing people. I think winning the polaris this year could actually hurt the Furs in the long term.
